6 Stones is a nonprofit committed to building a coalition that helps meet the needs of people in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford (HEB) area and beyond. Their website had grown outdated and difficult to navigate for donors, volunteers, and program participants. The objective was to redesign and restructure the site to improve usability, brand clarity, and community engagement.

Goals & Objectives

Modernize visual design while retaining the organization’s identity and community feel

Improve mobile responsiveness and site speed

Streamline navigation and restructure content by programs and impact areas

Increase visibility of donation, volunteer, and event calls-to-action (CTAs)

Make website updates easier for the internal team using a modular page builder (Elementor)

Challenges

The previous site had a cluttered information architecture with overlapping menus and outdated links

Inefficient donation flow and buried CTAs led to drop-off

The nonprofit needed to showcase multiple initiatives (e.g., Night of Hope, Operation Back 2 School, New Hope Center) without overwhelming users

Limited internal resources for content creation and training

Approach

Discovery & Audit
Conducted a full UX/content audit of the original site

Met with stakeholders to prioritize user needs and primary actions (Donate, Volunteer, Tour, Contact)

Site Architecture

Developed a new site map grouped by Programs, Impact, Get Involved, and About

Created a “Featured Initiatives” section for recurring seasonal campaigns

Design & Development

Built the new site in WordPress using Elementor for flexible content management. Implemented a clean, warm, community-focused visual style using brand colors and photo-driven layouts

Added sticky headers, event highlights, and hover-state buttons to increase engagement

Optimization

Integrated SEO best practices and performance optimizations

Installed Google Analytics and set up custom event tracking for CTAs

Content Strategy

Rewrote key landing pages with action-driven, accessible language

Created modular blocks for future updates by the in-house team

Training & Launch

Provided 1:1 virtual training for staff to manage events, blogs, and media uploads

Coordinated launch in phases with quality assurance testing across devices

Results

+38% increase in donations within the first month post-launch

2x engagement on key volunteer pages

Bounce rate dropped by 41% compared to the previous version

Page load speed improved from 4.8s to 1.6s

Staff now independently updates events and blog content with ease
